Piazza San Marco ripresa dall’Ala Napoleonica in prossimità con l’angolo delle Procuratie Nuove, opera di Vincenzo Scamozzi (1548-1616) iniziata nel 1583 e ultimata nel 1640 da Baldassarre Longhena. In evidenza la plasticità tardo rinascimentale e barocca delle Procuratie Nuove in cui i diversi avanzamenti e arretramenti di facciata interagiscono con un gioco di luci e ombre all’interno della tipica ripartizione dei prospetti nei tre  ordini architettonici classici. Sullo sfondo il Campanile, la facciata principale della basilica di San Marco e parte di Palazzo Ducale.

Blick aus dem Napoleonischen Flügel über den Markusplatz. Steht man direkt vor der Markuskirche, sieht man keine einzige ihrer fünf Kuppeln. Erst beim Überqueren des 180 m langen Platzes kommen die Kuppeln langsam zum Vorschein. Dass es fünf Kuppeln sind, sieht man nur aus von der schwindelerregenden Höhe des Glockenturmes hinab. Die neuen Prokuratien wurden von Jacopo Sansovino geplant, von Vincenzo Scamozzi (1548-1616) 1583 begonnen und von Baldassarre Longhena 1640 abgeschlossen. Die in die drei klassischen Architekturordnungen unterteilte Fassade zeigt eine plastische schon auf den Barock vorausweisende Gestaltung mit kontrastreichem Schattenspiel.

The late Renaissance and Baroque plasticity of the Procuratie Nuove is highlighted by the various advances and retreats of the facade interacting with a play of light and shadow within the typical division of the front in the three classical architectural orders. In the background, the Campanile, the main facade of Saint Mark’s Basilica and part of the Doge’s Palace.
